Captain Ahmad Y Almass, the Chairman";s Assistant for Seaports, met last week the delegation of the Spanish ports as a part of the delegation accompanied the President of Asturias of North Spain during his visit to Qatar.
The Spanish delegation consisted of the Chairman and Director of Avilis Port, as well as the Chairman and the Director of Gijon Shipyard, the Executive Contributor and the Chairman of the Gondan Shipyard and the consultant of the Economical Development Agency in Asturias.
At the beginning of the meeting Capt. Ahmad Almass had welcomed the guests and explained to them the opportunity of investment in Qatar in the field of Ports and the future projects such as the new port of Doha which would meet the future needs of the country as well as the development of the recent port of Doha.
On the other hand, Mr. Miguel Villadopos, the Director of Gijon Port declared that their mission was to explore the investment opportunities in the field of ship building, and to develop the economical relations between the ports of Gijon and Doha. Both of Armon and Gondan shipyards managers made a presentation about the ability of their companies to build ships, pilot boats and launches of different sizes. And they confirmed the interests of their companies in investing in Qatar.
At the end, both sides, the Qatari and the Spanish agreed on the importance of the joint cooperation between the port authorities in the two countries, and on boosting the economical relations between them.
